The declaration of the birth of a child can be made:
- at the municipality of residence of the parents: the parents, within 10 days of the birth of the child, must present themselves to the municipality of residence to make the declaration of birth. The parent must report to the registry office with the birth certificate (issued by the midwife or doctor who attended the birth). If the parents reside in different municipalities, the declaration can be made indifferently in one of the two municipalities.
- at the birth center: parents, within 3 days of birth, must report to the health management of the center where the birth took place with the birth certificate (issued by the midwife or doctor who attended the birth). The deed is then sent by the health management to the municipality where the birth took place, or to the municipality of residence of the parents, or to the municipality of residence indicated by the parents when they are resident in different municipalities.
- at the municipality of birth: the parents, within 10 days of the birth, must present themselves at the birth office of the municipality where the birth took place, with the birth certificate (issued by the midwife or doctor who attended the birth).
The child's registration is always carried out in the municipality of residence of the mother.
For CHILDREN BORN IN MARRIAGE the birth declaration can be made by the father and / or mother.
For CHILDREN BORN OUT OF MARRIAGE, the declaration must be made with the presence of the two parents if both intend to recognize the child, or with the presence of a parent if they have made the recognition before the birth, or with the presence of only the parent who intends to carry out the recognition.
