Church of Most Holy Trinity to Majon

The events of the elegant Majon chapel are linked to those of the de Zanna family: in fact, it stands close to one of the perimeter towers of the castle that Giovanni Maria de Zanna attempted to erect starting in 1700.

In fact, we recall that in 1692 this leader from Cortina was awarded the title of "Noble of the Most Holy Trinity and Royal Stone" by the Emperor of Austria: hence the dedication of the family chapel. The facade of the church is enriched by an elegant and airy portico supported by small columns which contrasts with the massive tower of the castle which acts as a bell tower. The interior is a single octagonal room, the main altar with a clear eighteenth-century taste is in stone and marble, while the two side altars are beautiful local creations in pine wood. On the main altar there is a painting attributed to Agostino Ridolfi in the circle: it is a glorification of the Trinity in which great attention is paid to chromatic and luministic variations and to the rendering of details. In the left altar there is a popular devotional altarpiece that presents the Madonna and Child between Saints Dominic and Saint Anthony of Padua, the de Zanna spouses in eighteenth-century clothes with their children, some depicted as living and others as dead . On the right altar there is a painting in a poor state of conservation: it presents the Purgative Souls facing the Risen Christ and the Saints: Teresa of Avila, the Virgin Mary and Saint Anthony of Padua.

Sacristan: Walter de Zanna
